Back in January, Vive Focus the standalone VR headset arrived in China. Now it’s on its way to the rest of the world. HTC has lowered the price to make it easier for Devs to get their hands on Dev kits, but even after the discount the price is almost the same as the original price in China. With a 2880 x 1600 pixel AMOLED display and Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, Vive Focus headset produces a 110 degree field of view. Position tracking with 9-axis sensors with 6 degrees of freedom and integrated proximity sensor.
According to VRODO, a German publication, a discount of €200 is arranged for devs if they order Vive Focus before June 4th, 2018. The discounted cost is €464 (~$560) with postage and value-added tax, which ranges between 19-23% in European countries. €650 is a huge amount but taking the advantage of rebate, devs can buy Vive Focus for €450. In the end of May, the Development Edition of the Focus will be launched in Germany. No official price has been set for the consumer version, although the price will circulate around the quoted price.
US developer kit’s pricing is still unknown. Their prices are different from European rates because of low taxes. So the developer kit will fall in the array of $500-$550 without US taxes. With finest in-class displays this 6DOF headset is launching in surety to put up a fight against the Oculus Go.
